Comparison shopping comes to travel
A US online comparison shopping service is to expand into the UK travel sector with a hotel price search system.
NexTag UK’s Travel Meta Search claims to offer consumers the ability to search and compare room rates across individual hotels and online travel agencies.
The company, part of California-based NexTag Inc., provides real-time availability allowing consumers to find the best price for hotels based on destination, room preference and arrival and departure date.
The hotel service is an extension of NexTag UK’s launch in the UK in July offering price comparisons between electronic goods. It has since added categories such as clothing, CDs, DVDs, and home and garden products. The firm claims to have reached 855,000 unique monthly visitors since its launch at www.nextag.co.uk.
Company president and CEO Purnendu Ojha said: “NexTag UK Travel Meta Search is designed to help online shoppers save time and money finding the best deals on hotel rooms.
“The launch of the UK travel category addresses the increasing need for comparison shopping for not only products but also for popular services including travel.”
Chloe Lim, sales and marketing director of online accommodation provider HotelClub.com said: We see NexTag UK as an important marketing channel to drive highly qualified traffic to our website and generate sales from UK customers.”
