Competition regulator approves Air India takeover of AirAsia India
India’s Competition Commission has given approval for the full acquisition of AirAsia India by Tata Sons’ Air India.
AirAsia India was a joint venture between AirAsia Group and Tata Sons. Tata then increased its majority stake to 83%. The business becomes part of Air India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Sons.
Tata also operates full-service airline Vistara as a separate joint venture with Singapore Airlines.
