Comtec unveils flight booking site
Agency software supplier Comtec Europe has developed an online flight booking website as the first stage towards creating the “ultimate one-stop travel shop”.
Comtec says its www.flight.co.uk offers access to all airline availability systems – scheduled, charter, net, consolidated, and low cost – and aims to become the most comprehensive online flight search tool.
The engine which powers the site is to be marketed to the company’s industry customers following a two-month trail direct to consumers.
The company stressed that, unlike direct competitors, the new site is not a portal as it uses a Comtec-developed Application Programme Interface (API). The company is negotiating with two existing clients about developing bespoke engines using the new technology.
Then a desktop version is due to be launched at World Travel Market in London in November.
Comtec chief executive Simon Powell said: “As travellers become more discerning and more demanding they will want to fly from a designated airport to their personally selected accommodation with their own choice of extras – cars, tours etc – rather than adhering to those itineraries traditionally offered in brochures.
“Comtec’s long term ambition for the technology which powers this site is to create the ultimate one stop ravel shop to meet the needs of these 21st century travellers. We hope that www.flight.co.uk provides consumers with a taster of the future of our travel technology ambitions.”
