Concorde’s last flight (really!)
Concorde has made its final flight, back to the place where it was first made, with hundreds of fans of the legendary plane turning out to bid it a fond farewell. With more than 100 pilots and cabin crew on board, Concorde Alpha Foxtrot took off from Heathrow airport for the final time, and 90 minutes later it was circling in the skies over Bristol, ready to land at the former British Aircraft Corporation, now Airbus UK, at Filton. The jet will be exhibited at Bristol’s Aviation Heritage Centre. The flight was welcomed by the Duke of York, who reportedly said: “Today is a day to reflect on the glory of what the UK can achieve.” Hundreds of well-wishers with cameras and binoculars turned out to catch a last glimpse of Concorde before it touched down for the last time.
