Cook raises over £250k for Travel Foundation
Thomas Cook has raised more than £255,000 in the last year for sustainable travel charity the Travel Foundation.
The money was raised through optional £1 donations on bookings and the sale of scratchcards onboard the company’s airline.
Thomas Cook’s responsible business forum chairman and managing director of the company’s specialist businesses Ian Ailles said: “Thomas Cook is the best known and most trusted name in travel but we understood a few years ago that we also needed to demonstrate to our customers that we really are the most responsible and reliable company to travel with too.
“We have been working, quietly, on sustainable tourism initiatives – recognising before many other operators – just how important this area of the business is becoming.
“It’s not just the impact of environmental damage on overseas resorts that we look at though. We concentrate on ensuring that from the grass roots in shops and head offices up, we as an employer, airline, operator and retailer always have the environment and responsible business in the forefront of our minds and decisions.”
