Coral Expeditions to resume cruising next month
Small ship line Coral Expeditions plans to resume sailing next month.
The Australia based line will restart voyages for Australian guests from 14 October.
The Coral Discoverer will sail week-long itineraries out of Cairns to some remote islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
It includes trips to Cooktown, the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on Fitzroy Island and a visit to Great Barrier Reef Research Station, as well as snorkelling at Lizard Island.
"We are planning a staged restart across the next six months which will be in collaboration with authorities from Australian states and territories," said Jeff Gillies, Commercial Director at Coral Expeditions.
"We have made advanced preparations for our domestic summer season in Tasmania and are developing new local expeditions for the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia regions in early 2021."
The Coral Discoverer is a purpose-built expedition yacht and has implemented a new ‘SailSAFE’ plan of enhanced safety protocols which it says creates a ‘safe travel bubble’ for guests.
"Being an Australian flagged tourism operator, the company is not affected by Border Force closures and carries Australian guests and employs Australian crew," Gillies said.
