Corporate air travel flying higher
Corporate air travel, after taking a dive, is up in the air again.
The number of companies using business and corporate aviation is growing, according to recent figures.
Businesses operating aircraft worldwide have risen from 6,854 in 1991 to 11,305 last year, according to the National Business Aviation Association.
“We had several years of decline following Sept 11, 2001,” said the association’s Dan Hubbard. But in the past couple of years, modest growth has taken over.
Some observers say more corporate people are using business jets because of convenience, security and the ability to reach more than one destination in a day.
Fractional ownerships, where there are multiple airplane ownerships, are also increasing.
