Corpse found by Airbnb guests in Paris suburb

A group of travelers checking in to an Airbnb rental got the shock of their lives after discovering a decomposing corpse in the garden.

The body of a woman was found in a shallow grave at the house in Palaiseau, 16 kilometres south of Paris.

The group had rented the house on home sharing site Airbnb for a weekend party.

‘The body was found at the bottom of the property which opens out into a wood,’ according to media reports, citing a police source.

It is being treated as a suspected homicide, the police source said.

The curled up body was barefoot and face down in the shallow grave and covered with branches and logs.

According to a report in the Telegraph newspaper, the local prosecutor’s office said ‘all the signs suggest that this was a criminal act.’

The group’s party was canceled and they were interviewed by police over the weekend.

The Airbnb host or owner of the property has not been disclosed and Airbnb has not yet responded to media requests.

Paris has become Airbnb’s largest market with more than 40,000 current listings, ahead of major cities such as New York and London.
