Countdown on for BTA nominations
The countdown is on for this year’s British Travel Awards – with the deadline for registrations being this Sunday, May 31.
Although some categories are oversubscribed, the Awards is still short of contenders for the hotel category as well as regional and independent agent categories.
There are 79 categories covering a full range of holiday experience and leisure travel services with some awards graded according to size of company, to ensure a level playing field.
Those registered will then be exposed to the public vote from July 6 to September 30. Last year more than 1.25 million votes were cast to determine the winners.
Companies already registered can be seen here.
BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "Some award categories are oversubscribed but there are a few others that are still waiting for registrations and of course the fewer companies in each category the more chance of winning!
"It’s not always the biggest companies that succeed – sometimes it’s the company who hasn’t been complacent but has actioned a great lobbying campaign for votes directed at their happy clients that takes the award."
This year, registered companies will receive a lobbying campaign asset – a new piece of software which will allow companies to link their customers directly to the categories in which they are listed on the BTA voting form, without the need for them to search through the whole list of categories to find their favourite travel companies.
The 2015 BTAs will take place on November 25 at Battersea Evolution.
