Covid outbreak on Aussie cruise ship
About 100 passengers and crew on the Coral Princess, recently docked in Brisbane, have contracted Covid -19.
“The virus is everywhere and there’s no escaping that, but I want to acknowledge that public health and the cruise line are doing all the right things and following the protocols,” Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said.
The ship was headed to New South Wales with 2,300 guests and crew onboard.
Some of the positive cases have disembarked in Brisbane.
Princess Cruises is now offering refunds to guests booked on the next cruise.
“We are adhering to comprehensive protocols that agreed in conjunction with authorities and we are confident that they are working effectively,” the cruise line said.
Queensland currently has nearly 41,000 active cases.
