Crown Casino chases premium players
MELBOURNE – Melbourne’s Crown Casino is set to undergo a $200 million refurbishment, which will include more private gaming tables and a new long-range Gulf Stream jet to cater for VIP customers.
Crown’s move to upgrade its appeal to premium players comes at a time when Singapore’s two new casinos are starting to find their feet.
One, Resorts World Sentosa, is already operating, and the other, Marina Bay Sands, is due to open late April
Crown Melbourne’s CEO David Courtney told The Age newspaper the casino’s exclusive Mahogany Room would be expanded with 16 new gaming tables added.
The new Gulf Stream jet will be added to the fleet of corporate jets the casino already uses to fly cashed-up international punters in and out of Melbourne.
A new Lobby Bar is also being built and the villas in Crown Towers will be refurbished.
The casino’s presidential villa will be converted to a private gaming club featuring 10 new gaming tables.
The entire project is due to be completed in early 2012.
