Cruise line to steer clear of Egypt

Saturday, 22 Aug, 2013 0

Due to the ongoing civil unrest in Egypt and the recent upgraded advise from the Australian Government, the management of Cruise & Maritime Voyages have decided to amend the Astor’s 2013 inaugural voyage itinerary to Australia.

Original port calls in Egypt, Port Said and Safaga, are being replaced with the ports of Messina (Sicily) and Athens (Piraeus, Greece).

The inaugural voyage departure on November 5 from Civitavecchia (Rome) and arrival at Fremantle on December 11 will not be affected by the changes.

All other ports listed on the voyage itinerary do not alter.

In a statement, the cruise line said: "Our priority is to ensure the utmost safety of all passengers in our care. Our management team remains committed to working to the advice of the Australian government so as not to jeopordise the safety of our passengers and crew."
