Cruise ship breaks moorings, drifts out to sea
A cruise ship docked in Italy broke free of its moorings and drifted out to sea.
Viking Sea’s mooring lines snapped in gale force winds at the port of Ravenna.
It drifted around 100 feet from its berth and was eventually brought back with help of several tugs.
The Ravenna Port Authority said there were 800 guests aboard and all were safe with no injuries.
It happened around 3:00am with most guests likely asleep at the time.
