Cruise ship docks with rescued French yachtsman
The five-star Antarctic expedition ship Orion has arrived in Hobart with a rescued French yachtsman on board.
Alain Delord, 63, was rescued on Sunday night about 500 nautical miles southeast of Tasmania after his yacht was dismasted on a round-the-world voyage.
The Orion’s 100 passengers will resume their cruise off Tasmania after a planned stop at Macquarie Island was cancelled.
The company will discuss the itinerary change and possible compensation with passengers, who paid around AUD1000 a night for the Orion’s three-week Antarctic experience.
