Cruise ship worker accused of stealing thousands
A night auditor working on a Holland America cruise ship stands accused of stealing more than $10,000 during three cruises out of Port Everglades in Florida.
Indonesian Anthonius Nov Hartanto, aged 42, has been charged with a total of 11 counts of grand theft.
He allegedly admitted the offences while working aboard the Holland America Noordam.
Hartanto, who manned the reception desk during the night shift, allegedly took the stolen cash off the ship when it docked at the port and wired the money to his own bank account in Indonesia, according to a report in the Sun Sentinel.
The alleged offences took place between November 3 and November 13, at the end of each of the three cruises.
The 11 thefts totaling $10,220 ranged from $500 to $1,320 a time, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Hartanto made his first appearance in court yesterday and is being held on $55,000 bail
