Cruise West to follow the great explorers
SYDNEY – Cruise West is launching a worldwide voyage inspired by history’s great explorers.
Departing in 2010 the Voyagers of the Great Explorers cruise is a 335-day circumnavigation of the globe, departing Singapore on March 6, 2010, aboard Cruise West’s flagship, the 120-guest, all-suite Spirit of Oceanus.
“This cruise will be a voyage of a lifetime; offering the longest and most varied itinerary with experiences that are only obtainable on a small ship,â€Â€Â said Maryann Anderson, director of the Small Ship Adventure Company.
This global adventure is broken up into six chapters based on sea exploration by six legendary adventurers: Marco Polo, Odysseus, Leif Eriksson, Christopher Columbus, James Cook and Ferdinand Magellan, visiting 242 Ports, 59 countries, 85 UNESCO World Heritage sites on 24 voyages that range from 9 to 18 nights in length.
The cruise circles the globe visiting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, the Mediterranean, Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, USA, South America, the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia.
Guest lecturers, local experts and onboard exploration leaders will expand upon the significance of the cultural and historical highlights as well as the explorers who left their mark.
Cruise West passengers can purchase individual voyages, sets of multiple voyages or the full circumnavigation.
Prices per voyage start at US$4,995 and include a hotel night pre-cruise.
Those booking the entire voyage starting at US$230,295 will receive first class airfares. Early booking discounts are also available.
