Crystal amends 2015 itinerary due to Gaza conflict
As another temporary ceasefire ends and hostilities resume again in Gaza, Crystal Cruises has announced changes to the 12-day Crystal Serenity itinerary in September 2015.
The cruise line will cut port calls in Limassol, Cyprus, and in Ashdod and Haifa in Israel.
Instead the ship will call at Santorini, Greece, Gozo and Valletta in Malta and Palermo, Sicily.
Other scheduled port calls will continue as normal, which include Istanbul and Kusadasi in Turkey, Rhodes, Crete, Naples and Rome.
"Crystal Cruises is hopeful for a swift and peaceful resolution for the Israeli and Palestinian citizens who are affected by this ongoing situation," Crystal president Edie Rodriguez said.
"The decision to revise next year’s Holy Land and Mediterranean itinerary so far in advance is prudent and responsible based upon our early booking patterns," Rodriguez added.
"We are very fortunate to present a newly-designed itinerary that is equally as rich in culture, history and scenery."
