Crystal Cruises to banish smokers outside
Crystal Cruises is to stamp out smoking indoors, except for its Connoisseur Club smoking lounge, from 014.
Outside smoking will be allowed in a limited number of designated spaces.
The revised policy begins with the January 5 and January 8 voyages of Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony respectively and eliminates smoking in all staterooms and suites, the Crystal Cove lobby lounge and Pulse and Luxe nightclubs.
Most areas of Crystal ships are already non-smoking, including restaurants and main entertainment lounges, as well as stateroom and suite balconies. Crystal eliminated smoking in its Avenue Saloon and Casino in 2013.
"We have received considerable feedback and we listened. Our policies have evolved as lifestyles have changed," said president Gregg Michel. "The majority of our guests worldwide are non-smoking, and travellers are used to more non-smoking environments today."
Crystal will continue to offer the Connoisseur Club, the only remaining interior smoking area, and designated spaces on exterior open decks for cigar, pipe and cigarette smoking.
