Crystal Serenity to sail second Northwest Passage cruise
Crystal Cruises is now taking reservations for a second Northwest Passenger voyage, ahead of the cruiseline’s inaugural trip later this summer.
Crystal Serenity will become the first luxury cruise ship to sail Alaska’s Northwest Passage in August after it passed a routine inspection last week.
The 1,700-passenger ship will depart Seward on August 16 for a 32-day trip to New York City, crossing the Gulf of Alaska through the Bering Sea and stopping in Greenland before reaching New York on September 17.
Reservations are currently being taken for a second Northwest Passage trip in 2017, Crystal Cruises spokesman Paul Garcia said.
Alaskan cruise voyages are showing an increase in popularity, with Seattle recently revealing it is on target to break its cruise visitor records this summer.
The Washington state city has become a popular gateway for cruises along Alaska’s Inside Passage, and Seattle says 960,000 visitors are expected to begin or end their cruise in the city.
