Ctrip adds global ride hailing coverage to app
Ctrip has rolled out a comprehensive ride hailing service on its app to assist the growing number of globetrotting Chinese customers.
It has integrated 10 ride hailing services across the world within in the app, allowing customers to book rides in multiple countries within the Ctrip app interface.
Coverage spans 785 cities in 47 countries in Southeast Asia, the US and Europe, including Lyft and Grab.
Ctrip says booking rides overseas is one of the most problematic issues of overseas travel for its Chinese customers.
The pain points include the need to download different apps when travelling in different countries, the language barrier, and limited payment options.
The integration hopes to solve all these issues in one go.
It includes a translation tool for travellers to communicate with their drivers, and also offer payments in RMB.
Other ride hailing partners covered include Germany’s Taxi Deutschland, Cabify, in Portugal, Spain, Mexico and parts of South America, and the UK’s Gett.
