CTTG asserts its independence

Monday, 11 May, 2004 0

Agencies in the Co-operative Travel Trading Group are telling customers that their independent status puts them in a better position to provide impartial holiday advice.

The most recent initiative by the company is to produce the “Straight talking holiday guide”, which is designed to “take the sting out of small print and underline its [CTTG agents’] commitment to honest, impartial advice”.

The 15-page guide is available for free in the majority of Co-op Travel and Travelcare shops in the UK.

It opens with this statement: “We are part of the largest independent travel agency group in the UK. Unlike many of our high street competitors we are not owned by a parent tour operator, therefore we are able to offer you open and honest advice, a wider range of holidays and secure you the best deal around.

“Other travel agents are often under instruction to sell their parent company’s holidays first, which may not always be in your best interests – but no-one pulls our strings!”

The guide goes on to explain the details of booking conditions, deposits, free insurance offers, cancellation terms, supplements and complaints procedures.

CTTG spokesman Phil Edwards told TravelMole: “We are independent in the marketplace and we don’t have an in-house brand we are being pressured to distribute so we are probably in the best position to give impartial advice, and this guides underpins that position.”
