Cuba draws one million
Cuba celebrated the arrival of one million tourists in record time, despite US efforts to undermine the economy, officials said.
A statement from the Tourism Ministry said the country was on track to attract a record two million visitors this year.
The news came as US President George W. Bush strengthened prohibitions on Americans traveling to Cuba.
In other developments, Sunsail announced it was starting its barefoot and skippered charters next winter in Cuba.
Sunsail says its sailings off the south coast of Cuba are different from any other in the Caribbean. The Sunsail sails on crystal clear waters past small islands.
To help find the best cruising routes and to assist in catching seafood, the company offers the services of a “Marinero,” or local sailor.
