Cultural cruising to UNESCO World Heritage sites
Tourists generally don’t associate cruises with great cultural and natural landmarks. But CLIA says they should.
The Cruise Line International Association, CLIA, says cruises offer an “unparalleled” chance for such visits.
“Some cruises are virtually a guided tour of civilization’s and Mother Nature’s most important and fabulous creations,” according to CLIA.
The association cities examples ranging from the ancient temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia to the fiery splendor of Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park.
Many CLIA member lines offer itineraries featuring hundreds of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
In the US, they include Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park; in the Caribbean, they include the quaint old city of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and in Canada, there are coastal drives through Nova Scotia and the historical-rich Quebec City.
