Cunard marketing chief takes river cruise role

Former Cunard marketing director Stuart Perl has been named UK managing director of Peter Deilmann River & Ocean Cruises.

He is to take up the role on April 5 replacing Mark Lewsey, who has left to “pursue other opportunities,” according to the company.

Perl will report to Gisa and Hedda Deilmann, the managing owners of Peter Deilmann Reederei at their headquarters in Germany.

They said in a statement: “We are delighted that Stuart has accepted this new role. He is the natural choice to take Peter Deilmann Cruises forward in the UK, having been in the cruising industry for over ten years.”

Perl said: “2007 is an important year for river cruising in the UK and I am excited by the challenges of taking this company forward and working to significantly boost Peter Deilmann’s brand awareness and image in the UK.

”Cruising, and in particular river cruising, is in a period of rapid growth both globally and in the UK, and we have a strong team in place to ensure we reap the benefits of this momentum.”
