Daily discount company partners with Expedia
Mega US daily deals company Groupon has announced a partnership with Expedia to offer subscribers discounts on holidays.
Groupon was set up just two and a half years ago and sends out daily emails offering deals on everything from manicures to car repair services, localised to the recipient’s area. It operates across US and UK cities.
The news comes as the company is seeking a $750 million IPO.
The Expedia partnership, called Groupon Getaways, will offer some 50 million subscribers the opportunity to buy travel vouchers for flights, hotels, cruises, package holidays and spa breaks worldwide.
Groupon chief executive officer Andrew Mason said: "Groupon Getaways with Expedia is a fitting complement to our local deals, helping people get out of the house and explore the world. We’re excited to tap into Expedia’s vast network of world-class travel providers, delivering unmatched exposure to them while offering a wonderful service to millions of our subscribers."
