Darwin Airport Resort’s Dave Collins saves The Mole’s day!
After a hard couple of days work in Darwin, The Mole was looking forward to a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc and several hours work in the Qantas Club Lounge at Darwin airport, getting TravelMole out ready for the next day as The Mole would be in transit on the half past midnight red eye from Darwin to Sydney – uggghh!!
So, The Mole wandered out to the airport around 5:30pm thinking that he had an evening of work ahead of him in the Qantas Club, only to find that every Qantas check in desk was closed, but no worries, he was quite happy to take his bag with him to the Qantas Club, but that is when devastation struck, when a security guard said, Sorry sir, the Qantas Club is closed until two hours before the flight that is 10:30pm!” “aaaggghh!
So what are you supposed to do in Darwin Airport all evening, with no internet, connection? Well the security guard said that the best thing to do was to go over to the Darwin Airport Resort and it is very nice!
So, off The Mole toddled across the car park expecting a rather average airport motel but was he going to be surprised!
If the Darwin Airport Resort had a big bamboo fence around it, it could be in Bali or Fiji – it is quite stunning and not only that so are the staff.
When The Mole entered this amazing open lobby he was greeted by Dave Collins, who described himself as a Porter, but seemed to be more like the Manager, who when asked by The Mole if they had wireless broadband, did not even miss a beat and said, “No sir, we do not, but let me plug your laptop into the hotel broadband!
Not only that, it all worked perfectly and after getting The Mole connected Dave then said, Now sir, let me get you a beer! What a champion!

Qantas, what can The Mole say – is there anything you can do to have the Darwin Qantas Club Lounge open earlier at the end of the working day for business people flying from Darwin to Sydney on the red eye, who have an evening to waste and heaps of work to do?
