Dataflexnet to help agents with the switch
Dataflexnet sales director, Steve Holmes says its e-profiles technology could be adapted to help agents that are switching GDSs.
The e-Profiles product, which was launched last week enables GDS profiles to be updated on the internet by the travellers themselves or by the agent.
Mr Holmes told TravelMole: “Updating profiles is something that used to be done manually either by sending an email or fax, but now profiles can be created or amended online. It saves a lot of time.”
The technology has so far been integrated with Sabre and Mr Holmes said the company has nearly completed integration with Galileo. He said Dataflexnet received over 100 enquiries from agents within two days of releasing the product.
The next step is to use the technology to help agents that are switching GDSs. “There are a lot of agents switching GDSs at the moment”, Mr Holmes told TravelMole, “and when they do this the profiles have to be manually switched.
“One agent told us it would take eight weeks to manually convert their profiles to their new GDS.”
“Although this product wasn’t designed to do this originally I think it will be possible to achieve this with a small amount of manual intervention.”
Mr Holmes says his company hopes to enable online switching of GDS profiles in the next month or so, once it has finished working with Amadeus and Worldspan to enable e-profiles.
