Datalex deploys air booking at Vail Resorts snow.com site
Vail Resorts Inc. (NYSE:MTN) today announced the availability of airline bookings capabilities at www.snow.com to complement the extensive land-booking services currently offered at the site. Datalex (ISE:DLE; OTC:DLEXY), a leading provider of technology to the travel industry, has deployed its air-booking engine at the site, through which the resort group will offer its guests published and special negotiated airfares.
In October 2002 Vail announced the enhanced www.snow.com with its expanded capabilities for searching, selecting and purchasing accommodations, activities and other land-based travel components. The site’s improvements were made possible by a new booking engine developed in partnership with Datalex and Resort Technology Partners (RTP), representing a new generation of Internet distribution technologies for leisure travel enterprises. Visitors to the site can purchase components individually or create their own dynamic packages from a wide variety of activities including skiing, golfing, fishing, mountain biking and more.
“Today, with the addition of our new air booking facility, the site offers a complete travel planning and booking service including accommodations, ski-lift tickets, airport shuttle services, car rental, activities, and now, air travel,” said Martin White, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Vail Resorts. “With the latest Datalex implementation, we can provide our visitors with not only published airfares, but also the special deals we negotiate with air carriers serving our resort regions.”
Datalex CEO, Neil Beck said, “We are delighted at the successful completion of the second phase of our Vail Resorts project. Datalex joint-ventured with Vail Resorts to develop the new Internet technology, and it is a natural extension to integrate our air-booking and airfares management systems to create a comprehensive air- and land-travel booking system. This is a perfect example of how our technology components come together to create a powerful e-Commerce solution for resort and hospitality organizations.”
The combined fares display enables the traveler to search for air itineraries and to purchase from a broad range of discounted domestic fares that have been negotiated by Vail Resorts. Travelers also can compare these fares to regular published fares and select according to their preference. The Datalex solution checks fare rules and returns flight options for available seats, saving time and allowing the visitor to make a more informed choice.
