Deadly gun attack at Fort Lauderdale Airport
A lone gunman opened fire at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida, killing at least five people.
The airport closed and flights were suspended after the incident, which happened in the baggage claim area in Terminal 2 at around lunchtime local time on Friday.
Broward Sheriff’s office said in a tweet there were five people dead and one person in custody.
Reports say eight people have been injured and taken to local hospitals.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer was at the airport.
"Shots have been fired. Everyone is running," he tweeted.
He later added: "All seems calm now but the police aren’t letting anyone out of the airport – at least not the area where I am."
