Delta adding more flights to Tel Aviv

Thursday, 25 Sep, 2015 0
Just weeks after American Airlines made the contentious decision to scrap flights from Philadelphia to Tel Aviv, rival Delta Air Lines is adding more capacity to Israel from New York.

Delta will fly an additional four weekly round trips to Tel Aviv from New York JFK starting from May 26, 2016 for a total of 11 per week.

American ends its service to Tel Aviv from Philly in January due to big operational losses on the route, which included a $20 million deficit last year.

Delta will use 291-seat Boeing 777-200ER jets for the extra flights.

"From next summer, Delta will offer more than 2,300 extra seats between Tel Aviv and New York, one of our largest trans-Atlantic markets, responding to customer demand for increased nonstop service," said Nat Pieper, Delta senior vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Beginning next May, Delta will add nonstop flights to Paris from Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
