Delta Air Lines expands biometric access to lounges
Delta Air Lines has expanded its biometric pilot scheme which allows members to sign into a Delta Sky Club with a simple fingerprint scan.
The program is being expanded nationwide and will be available at all 50 domestic Delta Sky Club locations.
The system was first trialed last year at Washington Reagan National Airport.
The system is called Delta Biometrics Powered by CLEAR and can be used by US citizens or permanent residents.
Delta Sky Club members without a CLEAR membership can enrol for free at many Delta Sky Club locations.
SkyMiles members get discounted rates for CLEAR enrolment and is also free for Diamond Medallion members.
The airline says it can streamline check-in for millions of lounge visits each year.
"From unlocking our phones to entering the workplace, more and more people have the option to use biometrics and a form of identity verification for daily activities," said Gil West, Delta COO.
"Having that option is quickly becoming an expectation that we are working hard to meet through this program."
The fingerprint scan does away with the need to show member cards or boarding passes.
"CLEAR is thrilled to continue partnering with Delta to help facilitate a frictionless travel experience through this new check-in option powered by CLEAR’s secure, proven technology," said Caryn Seidman-Becker, CLEAR’s CEO.
