Delta Air Lines has strengthened its partnership with Korean Air with plans submitted for an expanded trans-Pacific network.
The airlines signed a memorandum of understanding for a joint venture agreement which will comprise cost and revenue sharing and the coordination of flight schedules.
The two carriers also plan to enhance frequent flyer benefits to streamline the earning and redeeming of miles on Delta’s Sky Miles and Korean Air’s SKYPASS programs.
"This agreement deepens our longstanding partnership with Korean Air and will provide the global access and seamless service our customers demand," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
"We look forward to providing customers of both carriers with industry-leading service between the U.S. and Asia."
The partnership will also see expanded codesharing and co-location at key air hubs as both carriers add flights this year connecting the two countries.
Delta starts new nonstop service between Atlanta and Seoul in June 2017 and Korean Air is adding extra frequencies on its Seoul to Los Angeles and San Francisco routes.
