Delta announces new transatlantic routes
Delta is adding to its transatlantic network with new seasonal flights to Lisbon, Portugal and the Azores
It will start seasonal five times a week flights from New York-JFK to Ponta Delgada-Azores beginning May 24 and daily from Atlanta to Portuguese capital Lisbon.
The latter is being introduced following strong demand after Delta launched Lisbon flights from New York this year.
"Our summer 2018 schedule further cements Delta as the best choice for customers. Flights will bring more opportunities for trade between Portugal and the US," said Dwight James, Delta’s senior vice president – transatlantic.
The Lisbon route will be operated by Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 225 seats, while Azores flights will use 199-seat Boeing 757-200ER jets.
Delta is also adding transatlantic flights from Los Angeles with nonstops to Paris and Amsterdam beginning next June and a third daily flight between Detroit and Paris from May 2018.
