Delta dodges pilot strike but faces other dilemmas
Delta averted a pilots strike but hurdles remain for the airline, including the possibility of a strike by its wholly owned subsidiary, Comair.
Delta pilots and management reached a tentative agreement that must now be ratified by union leaders and the pilots. That process is likely to take several weeks.
Comair is seeking $8.9 million in wage cuts and other savings from the flight attendants. The attendants say the cuts are unfair and have authorized a strike if management does not back down.
Comair operates more than 800 flights to 108 cities.
Both Delta and Comair filed for bankruptcy protection last year.
