Delta drops hated offline booking fee

Tuesday, 15 Apr, 2016 0
Delta Air lines has ditched one of its most loathed fees – the extra charge to speak to a real human being when making a flight booking.

Delta said it is removing the $25 fee per ticket for booking a flight over the phone and $35 when buying a ticket in person at an airport.

Delta said the change was ‘based on our efforts to make it easier for our customers to do business with Delta.’

"We want our customers to have the flexibility to choose and customize their experience based on their preferences," said Delta spokesman Brian Kruse.

"Now customers can purchase a ticket over the phone by calling our reservations professionals, in person, on delta.com and through the Fly Delta app without having to factor in a fee."

"We are always reviewing our policies and procedures."

The fees were first introduced in 1999 for non online bookings and have steadily risen since.

"It is much simpler for our customers to not have to worry if they will pay a fee for ticketing with Delta," said new Delta’s Glen Hauenstein.
