Dertour halts ticket sales to captive dolphin attractions
Kuoni owner Dertour will halt selling admission to marine attractions with whales and dolphins in captivity.
This includes ‘direct contact’ activities like swimming with dolphins and shows
“This builds on our commitment to animal welfare, which is secured in our binding animal welfare policy,” said Director of Corporate Responsibility Laura Steden.
“We want to ensure that all our offerings meet the highest standards of animal welfare. This also means we do not support attractions that contradict the natural needs and behaviours of marine mammals.
“Instead, we’ll focus on conservation efforts through the DERTOUR Foundation.”
Dertour’s brand portfolio in the UK includes CV Villas, Journey Latin America and Inghams and Solmar Villas.
TUI still offers tickets to some venues promoting captive dolphin shows and activities and has been regularly targeted by activists.
