Destination DC touts economic benefit of new Cathay Pacific nonstop flights
Official marketing organization Destination DC has joined hands with Cathay Pacific Airways and Washington Dulles International Airport to promote the airline’s upcoming launch of nonstop service to Washington DC.
The Washington Dulles route to Hong Kong kicks off on September 16, 2018.
Asian markets make up 32% of the District’s overseas visitors, said Elliott L. Ferguson II, president and CEO of DDC.
"We’re excited about the potential for increased business and leisure travelers from Hong Kong and the Asian-Pacific region including China and India to the nation’s capital," Ferguson said.
Operated by Cathay’s new Airbus A350-1000, it becomes the longest nonstop air route serving both Hong Kong and the Washington, DC region.
Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong hub connects to 22 destinations in Mainland China and direct to eight North American cities.
"Cathay Pacific’s new service between Washington, DC, and Hong Kong continues to improve the diversity of choice, worldwide connectivity and overall experience for travelers at Dulles International Airport," said Mike Stewart, Washington Dulles International Airport manager.
