The rescue flight for British passengers who have been quarantined on Diamond Princess has been delayed.

More than 70 Britons, who have now spent 16 days on the ship off the coast of Japan, were due to fly home today but their flight will now leave on Saturday morning.

Officials said the flight was changed due to the ‘complex nature’ of the procedure.

The cruise passengers are set~to fly into Boscombe Down airfield in Wiltshire and will then be quarantined for another 14 days at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral.

The four who tested positive for the coronavirus will have to stay in Japan.

These include David Abel and his wife Sally who have been posting updates on Facebook from their hospital beds.

At least 634 passengers and crew have now been infected.

There has been criticism about the decision to keep all of the 3,700 passengers and crew on board the ship.
