Dine with a Star in the Pacific

Taking a holiday from the kitchen doesn’t mean missing the finer foodie things in life when you’re aboard Pacific Star, the newest ship in the P&O Cruises fleet.

Pacific Star has a wide array of dining options aboard, from the casual yet mouthwatering buffets available at breakfast and lunch to the charming surrounds of the Club Bahia Steak House.

Set to commence her inaugural Pacific cruise season from Brisbane on December 18, the newly-refitted Pacific Star features the Bordeaux Restaurant – the largest dining room of any ship within P&O Cruises’ Australian fleet.

The Bordeaux Restaurant caters comfortably for 647 passengers and is staffed by a small army of waiters serving piping hot breakfasts, fresh tasty lunches and sumptuous dinners with a smile.

For a more intimate dining experience, cruisers can savour an evening of fine dining at Club Bahia Steak House for a small additional charge.

Passengers looking for a quick and healthy breakfast and lunch between on-board activities will find the Lido Buffet is a perfect solution, providing a wide selection of hot and cold options to suit all tastes.

The Lido Grill and Pizzeria also offers a casual and no-fuss option serving delectable pizzas and pasta, while the on-board bars offer a range of small meals and snacks.

To stave off any afternoon peckishness, Pacific Star offers a traditional English afternoon tea served each day, while room service is available 24-hours to satisfy munchies without leaving the cabin.

All up, Pacific Star’s waiters offer passengers up to 15 courses of food and chefs prepare more than 6,000 meals for the 1,400 passengers and 520 crew – every day. All this good living means an estimated 50 tonnes of food and drink will be consumed on each seven-day cruise.

The 1,400 passanger Pacific Star features three swimming pools, a jogging track, Lotus Spa, extensive open decks, showlounge, six bars and lounges, nightclub, open air spas, casino and kid’s clubs.

Pacific Star will be based out of Auckland between May and August 2006 for a series of cruises to the South Pacific.

Fares for a Pacific Star cruise start at $1,190 per person for a 7-night Ocean Waltz cruise from Brisbane to Auckland via New Caledonia and Vanuatu, departing May 20, 2006*. Fares include accommodation, entertainment, activities and all main meals.
