Direct web sales up for Delta
Delta Air Lines is selling more tickets online than ever before.
The airline says it sold more than 600,000 tickets through delta.com in September, making it a record month for the carrier. The revenue from the online ticket sales exceeded $160 million, a 22% increase year-on-year.
Delta’s managing director for online sales and service, Steve Scheper says customers are embracing the concept of buying tickets online. They are also apparently increasingly warming to the idea of checking in online – as check-ins at delta.com increased 235% over the same month last year.
Customers are encouraged to book online, with incentives like 1,000 bonus miles for frequent flyer scheme members when they buy a roundtrip ticket on delta.com, check in online or redeem a SkyMiles award ticket through the site.
