Disney raises prices in California
Disney has hiked prices of one-day parkhopper tickets in California by nearly 10% to $150.
The tickets give visitors access to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks.
Meanwhile, the price to visit one park has risen 4.3% to $96.
The price rises come months after similar increases at the Orlando parks, where the price for a single-day admission to the Magic Kingdom went up 4% to $99 for adults and kids aged 10 and above.
A spokesman defended the latest increases, saying: “Like any business, we periodically evaluate our pricing and make adjustments based on a variety of factors. A ticket to our theme parks represents great value, particularly when you look at the breadth and quality of attractions and entertainment we offer and the special moments guests experience with our cast.
“In the past few years alone, we have expanded the Disneyland Resort to include the 12-acre Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and phenomenal new attractions like Radiator Springs Racers and new entertainment offerings like Fantasy Faire, providing Guests more ways than ever to enjoy their visit.”
Disney has also temporarily suspended annual passes for Southern California residents, which according to USA Today had often made the parks busy on Sundays.
Locals who already have the passes can renew at the increased prices but no new passes are being issued. Disney is still offering them more expensive premium passes and a more restrictive Southern California Select pass that does not include weekends and offers access on 170 days.
