Dollywood owner buys Vancouver Aquarium
Dollywood owner Herschend Enterprises has acquired the Vancouver Aquarium. According to former owner Ocean Wise, the sale was necessary to stop it from shutting down permanently.
"It’s not cheap to run an aquarium, and running an aquarium without any income is only possible for a short period of time, especially for a not-for-profit organization like ours," Ocean Wise said.
It had been seeking a buyer since last year. It adds to the Hershand portfolio of more than a dozen amusement parks, water parks and aquariums in mostly southern US states, including Dollywood and Silver Dollar City.
