Doncaster to gain Pakistan flights
Flights to Pakistan are to be launched from Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
Shaheen Airlines plans to run at least two flights a week to Islamabad by the end of the year. Details of the full schedule, prices and booking details are to be announced shortly.
The airline’s operations vice-chairman Mohammed Jalil said: “The service launch coincides with the acquisition by Shaheen of a Boeing 767 aircraft to meet the demand for this long haul destination.”
The move follows FlyGlobespan’s planned launch of flights from the Yorkshire airport to Toronto next May.
The airport’s managing director David Ryall said: “When Peel Airports purchased the site, we always said we would bring long haul flights to a region that had previously been underserved by airports that are still restricted on the aircraft which they can handle. Robin Hood Airport has the capability to handle the largest commercial aircraft that is in operation today.”
