DOT names most expensive, cheapest airports
What’s the most expensive US airport? And the cheapest?
Cincinnati fliers pay the highest fares, according to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Domestic Airline Fares Consumer Report.
The DOT bases its ratings on “fare premiums,” which is a calculation that compares what local airport customers pay for flights compared to other airports with comparable demographics.
Under those standards, Cincinnati in price is followed by Dallas/Fort Worth, Memphis, White Plains, NY, and Charlotte.
And the least expensive?
Atlantic City.
It is followed by Long Beach, Calif., St. Petersburg, Fla., Chicago’s Midway and Islip/Long Island, said the DOT.
