WTTC Summit Special: The .travel domain name is likely to launch at the end of the year.

The news was announced by Tralliance Corporation, the company that has been named by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers as the registry for .travel.

Speaking at the WTTC Summit in New Delhi, Tralliance president and chief executive Ron Andruff said: “The .travel domain will strengthen consumer confidence in their travel purchases and provide a new, distinct, distribution channel for travel suppliers.”

According to Tralliance there are already 100 travel trade associations committed to participating in the .travel domain.

Tralliance described how opting for the .travel domain would “lift companies out of the anonymity of a .com web.”
