Dream Cruises expanding to Australia and New Zealand
Dream Cruises is beefing up its fleet with the addition of a new vessel from sister brand Star Cruises.
Formerly the SuperStar Virgo, it will be renamed Explorer Dream and will undergo a US$30 million transformation before joining the Dream Cruises fleet.
Explorer Dream will receive Dream Cruises’ signature private club the Palace with 50 suites and butler service.
New food and beverage options and a Crystal Life Spa will be added.
"Explorer Dream will offer another option for our Asia based guests to expand their travel horizons with new rail/cruise and fly/cruise opportunities to see the world," said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman of parent Genting Hong Kong.
Explorer Dream will be deployed in North China with cruises from Shanghai and Tianjin from spring 2019 to Japan, Russia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
The ship will also be the first to venture beyond Asia with homeporting in Sydney and Auckland later in 2019.
It will sail 21 week-long itineraries.
These include Queensland and the Barrier Reef cruises, Tasmania and Melbourne sailings, and north and south island New Zealand itineraries.
