Dream Cruises first global-class liner to homeport in Shanghai
Dream Cruises will homeport its first global-class mega liner in Shanghai in early 2021.
The first of two such ships on order at Genting Hong Kong-owned MV Werften shipyard in Germany, the ship will accommodate 5,000 passengers.
Parent company Genting Cruise Lines signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Baoshan District Government for the deployment which also includes the setting up of a cruise related business in the Baoshan district to help further develop cruise tourism in the Shanghai market.
The Global Class ship is designed specifically for the Asia market and will feature an Asian inspired spa, multiple Asian dining venues and a Cineplex.
"To further support the cruise development in Shanghai, we are excited to deploy our upcoming Global Class ship to Shanghai in early 2021. We value Shanghai as one of our strategic homeports and remain confident of the cruise market in the city," said Kent Zhu, president of Genting Cruise Lines.
Dream Cruises is also bringing the Explorer Dream to Shanghai next April when it transfers from sister cruise line Star Cruises.
