Dreamlifter lands at wrong airport
The huge cargo plane that landed at a tiny Kansas airport by mistake yesterday has safely taken off.
There had been fears the Boeing 747 Dreamlifter was too big to take off, because the runway at Colonel James Jabara Airport, where it landed, was not long enough and the airport does not have a control tower.
The aircraft was supposed to have landed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, nine miles away.
However, Brad Christopher, of the Wichita Airport Authority, said the plane, which has a wingspan of 211.5ft (64.44m) and is more than 235ft long, was safe for a normal departure.
An investigation is being carried out into what went wrong.
