Drunk causes Qantas cabin chaos
A Qantas aircraft was forced to abort a take-off from Cairns Airport after a drunk passenger wrestled with airline staff and abused Australian Federal Police.
Cairns fisherman James Carter was forced from the QantasLink flight to Darwin last Friday night, after downing 10 cans of beer and refusing to take his seat.
Flight attendants tried in vain to get the 31-year-old passenger, who broke up with his pregnant girlfriend earlier that day, off the plane, The Cairns Post reported.
He co-operated with police initially but then resumed arguing and swearing.
The captain was forced to stop the plane as it taxied down the runway for a scheduled 9.10pm take-off.
When the unruly passenger was finally taken to a police watchhouse, Carter had a blood alcohol reading of more than 0.4.
