Drunken passenger jailed
An airline passenger who was so drunk he asked another man to “step outside” for a fight has been jailed.
According to the Daily Telegraph, 30-year-old Lee Rust had drunk a bottle of vodka before and during an EasyJet flight from Alicante to Bristol in January. He started being abusive to other passengers, the newspaper reports, and eventually said he wanted to go outside for a fight with one of them.
At Bristol Crown Court, Judge Michael Roach reportedly told Rust: “This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated on an aircraft.”
The court heard that Rust carried on abusing passengers until the flight arrived at Bristol, and that a member of the cabin crew sat next to him throughout the rest of the flight, to ensure he did not disrupt it any further.
Rust admitted being drunk and disorderly and was sentenced to three months’ jail.
